Election Signs

The Town of Bracebridge Election Sign By-law helps ensure that election signage is safe, respectful, and consistent throughout the community. It sets out when and where signs may be displayed, establishes size and design standards, and outlines requirements for both candidates and registered third parties.

Key Points

  • Timing: Signs may only be placed beginning on Monday August 31, 2026, and must be removed within 72 hours after voting day.
  • Locations: Signs are not permitted on any public property (such as roads, boulevards, parks, trails and municipal facilities), public utility structures, official signs, or trees and other natural objects. Setbacks apply on private property.
  • Permissions: Signs on private property require consent from the property owner. Quantity and spacing limits apply.
  • Design: Signs must be safe, not illuminated or animated or contain indecent content or use Town logos or branding, and must clearly identify the candidate or registered third party.
  • Safety: Signs cannot obstruct drivers, pedestrians, or emergency access.
  • Enforcement: Signs placed in violation of the by-law may be removed by the Town, and set fines may apply.
