Nominations Open May 1 for the 2026 Municipal Election
BRACEBRIDGE, ON (April 17, 2026) – Bracebridge Votes is inviting community-minded residents to take the next step in shaping the future of their community, as nominations for the 2026 Municipal Election officially open on May 1.
If you’ve ever thought about making a difference in Bracebridge, now is the time to get involved. Serving on Council or as a School Board Trustee is a unique opportunity to influence local decisions, represent your community, and help guide the future of the town.
Eligible individuals may file nomination papers for the following offices:
- Mayor
- Town and District Council
- School Board Trustee
In addition, eligible individuals, corporations, or trade unions may register as Third Party Advertisers.
Nominations and third party advertiser registrations are accepted by appointment only. To book an appointment, contact Lori McDonald, Director of Corporate Services/Clerk, at lmcdonald@bracebridge.ca or 705-645-5264 ext. 3200.
Residents interested in running are encouraged to visit bracebridgevotes.ca, where they will find:
- Step-by-step guidance on how to become a candidate;
- Eligibility requirements and required forms;
- Information on registering as a Third Party Advertiser; and
- Important dates and updates throughout the election period.

Interested candidates are encouraged to participate in the upcoming Council information workshop on April 30 to learn more about how municipal government operates, what serving on Council really involves, and the realities of campaigning and public life. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the roles and responsibilities of elected officials, helping them make an informed decision about whether to run.
